I truly believe everyone in Salem has gone crazy the people that agree with these signs of "witches" are beyond mad. To believe in someones word of spirits and witch craft with no proof what so ever, should be sin itself. Salem is trying to find the devil but they are searching in all the wrong places. If the rumors I hear are true, these young girls are lying and craving attention that they are very well getting. These girls are covering up their own lies by pointing fingers at others. They have created complete cautious and tormented many people. There are not witches in Salem but they are supporting the devil. Abigail has the devil whispering into her ear, to lie and accuse falsly along with place fear into others. Salem is blind and will destroy themselves in time, if they keep giving these girls control and attention. There are no witches in salem and as Jesus told those men accusing the women being stoned "If you have not ever sinned, be the first to throw a stone",nobody should be pointing fingers and accusing others of any sin unless they are as holy as God himself.
What is grace if we do not use it? God has given us the ability to be freed of our sins and forgiven for them, regardless of the severity of the sin. Hester has committed a sin, that is not something anyone can argue. Scripture tells us adultery is sin. Even though this may be true, nobody has the right to say what punishment is fit for her. Forgiveness cannot go through a priest or higher being in society, forgiveness can only be given from our Lord above. The public humiliation of Hester is wrong on our part as Gods people. Scripture tells us to be forgiving, accepting and discipline with love. How can we justify our actions towards her? We have all committed sin in some way and have our own burdens to bare, Hester has chosen to stand tall and with pride even with her sin and the judgment of everyone around her. Seeing Hester with her beautiful baby Pearl and the letter A worn on her chest, yet still her chin held high, make her a symbol of Sin but also grace at its finest. The scripture tells us how every child is a gift from god and has been born for a reason, Hester's baby is not a demon or sent from a evil being. Pearl is a beautiful godly child that should not have to bare the sin of anyone else. Her mother made her choices and Pearl will make her own that will be judged by God. Pearl is a symbol of gods plan and the good that can come out of the devils doings. It is hard to speak out about this because the judgmental women in town but I believe Hester is a wonderful godly women that like us all has sin. I try to find any excuse to go visit her and her baby and show her she is not alone. We all sin, and we all have the chance to be forgiven. God's grace is here for everyone's taking.
My name is Kassandra Washington, I am the daughter of Shannon and the sibling of two brothers and a sister, we just recently came to Boston from England in search of a better life due to the passing of our father. Our educational background is low because we did not have enough money to send us all to school, yet our hard working mother has provided for us and does everything in her power to give us the resources to better our reading and writing skills. Our family is very religious and stand strong in our christian beliefs. Though I do not agree with our priests and there harsh punishments and teachings of the Bible, it can be hard to speak up about it because of the judgment from the church and its people. I would love to work in the church and teach people the christian way of life. Coming to Boston will hopefully open up new doors and new opportunities.
